The ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction is a premier, highly-selective venue presenting the latest advances in Human-Robot Interaction. The 16th Annual HRI conference theme is “Bolder HRI.” Tutorials and workshops will be held on March 8 2021, one day before the main technical sessions. Submission instructions for organizers follow below. All tutorial and workshop proposals must be submitted to the tutorials and workshops chairs, Brittany Duncan and Tesca Fitzgerald at <a href="mailto:workshops2021@humanrobotinteraction.org">workshops2021@humanrobotinteraction.org</a>, no later than 5 October 2020. The proposals submitted will be subjected to a review process. ** Workshop and Tutorial Proposals: Due Monday October 5 11:59pm AoE ** Conference changes due to COVID-19 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Due to the ongoing pandemic, the conference is currently being planned as a hybrid between an online and in-person conference. However, the organizing committee will continue to monitor the situation and the conference may switch to a fully virtual format if necessary. More information about the final conference format will be communicated in January 2021. Tutorials------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We invite experts in different areas to propose half-day or full-day tutorials relevant to the HRI 2021 theme of "Bolder HRI". Examples of topics are state-of-the-art overviews of particular HRIareas or design/research methods. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome. The responsibilities of tutorial organizers include: 1. Setting up a website for the tutorial that will be linked to the HRI 2021 website2. Publicizing the tutorial3. Running the tutorial at the conference and/or online4. Optionally, compiling tutorial proceedings after the workshop Please submit the following information (up to 3 pages, open format):* Title of tutorial* Motivation or background* Overview of tutorial including topics covered and schedule* Target audience or prerequisites* Tutorial speaker(s), including bio sketches / short CVs* Links and references relevant to the tutorial* A 150 - 250 word abstract suitable for advertising the tutorial in HRI 2021 Workshops------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Workshops are an opportunity for participants to meet other members of the HRI community, to discuss problems and to present their ideas around a common topic. The workshops can be half-day or full-day, and can cover any topic relevant to HRI research, design, methodologies, or education. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome. The responsibilities of workshop organizers include: 1. Setting up a website for the workshop that will be linked to the HRI 2021 website2. Publicizing the workshop and soliciting position papers from potential participants3. Selecting workshop participants based on the quality of their position papers, which outline the submitters' views on the workshop topic and the reasons for submitters' interest4. Running the workshop at the conference and/or online5. Optionally, compiling workshop proceedings and/or finding (or creating) opportunities for formal publication of extended versions of position papers after the workshop6. Optionally, soliciting and coordinating the appearance of invited speakers at the workshop Please submit the following information (up to 3 pages, open format): * Title of workshop* Organizer(s), including contact information and short CVs* Overview of the workshop including schedule, format, and types of activities (e.g., whole-group discussions, break-out sessions, position paper presentations, etc.)* Target audience or prerequisites* Approach for recruiting participants* Plan for documenting the workshop* A 150 - 250 word abstract suitable for advertising the workshop in HRI 2021* A list of potential invited speakers and participants who indicated their interest in the workshop.
