L’analyse sera réalisée à partir de méthodes d’apprentissage automatique et de fouille de données spécifiques à la problématique (petit ensemble de données de grandes dimensions). Cette analyse permettra de construire et évaluer un modèle computationnel de raisonnement permettant de déterminer les signaux multimodaux temps réel d’un agent virtuel persuasif. Pour ce faire, une première étape consistera à identifier les corpus existants d’interaction humain-humain impliquant des comportements persuasifs, d’identifier et d’exploiter les outils existants pour l’annotation automatique de certains signaux verbaux et mimo-gestuels dans les corpus, d’encadrer la campagne d'annotation manuelle qui permettra de compléter les annotations automatiques. Etant donnée la spécificité des données analysées (e.g. multimodales, bruitées, non alignées, petit ensemble de données, grande dimension), il s’agira d’identifier les méthodes d'apprentissage automatique et de fouille de données les plus adaptées pour extraire des informations interprétables sur les signaux multimodaux à exprimer pour apparaître plus persuasif. Le modèle computationnel de raisonnement de l’agent conversationnel animé sera construit à partir des résultats de cette analyse. CoPains project aims to develop artificial agents capable of inciting human users to adopt healthy behaviors and, if necessary, to persuade them to change their habits in their own interest. More specifically, the application domain is health persuasive technology in which an embodied conversational agent (ACA) interacts with a human user in a multimodal way (through verbal and mimo-gestual behaviors) in order to support his/her activity and take care of his/her well-being. <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">The main research objective of the postdoctoral fellowship is to develop a computational model to determine how an embodied conversational agent should behave from a multimodal point of view (verbal and non-verbal behavior, e.g. facial expressions, postures, lexicons) in order to be more persuasive. The analysis will be performed using machine learning and data mining methods adapted to the specific data sets (small data sets of large dimensions). This analysis will allow the construction and evaluation of a computational reasoning model to determine; in real-time, the multimodal signals of a persuasive virtual agent. For this purpose, a first step will consist in identifying existing corpora of human-human interaction involving persuasive behaviors, identifying and exploiting existing tools for the automatic annotation of certain verbal and mimo-gestual signals in the corpora, managing the manual annotation campaign that will allow to complete the automatic annotations. Given the specificity of the analyzed data (e.g. multimodal, noisy, non-aligned, small dataset, large dimensions), one problematic is to identify the most suitable methods of machine learning and data mining to extract interpretable information on the multimodal signals to be expressed in order to appear more persuasive. The computational reasoning model of the embodied conversational agent will be built from the results of this analysis.
