PhD Studentship in Virtual Reality 
The Department of Computer Graphics at Purdue University (http://purdue.edu) is seeking highly motivated and creative students who are eager to get involved in cutting edge research. The positions are part of the newly established Virtual Reality Lab. 

About the Position 
Virtual reality (VR) describes the use of computer technology to deliver the impression that a user is located in a different environment. This technology offers huge potential research benefits. For example, research paradigms can be developed, untethered from these constraints of the physical environment, with full control over participants’ visual, auditory, and haptic sensory input. The doctoral student will undertake a series of research studies aimed at understanding even deeper the way users interact within the virtual environments and the way that the virtual content can influence their behaviors. 

Applicant Background 
This project would suit a candidate with a computer science, computer graphics, informatics, engineering, or psychology background and an interest in virtual reality, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, human perception. Excellent programming skills in C++ or C# are expected and experience in Unity3D and/or UDK. Experience with statistical data analysis packages such as R or SPSS is a plus. Fluent communication skills in English are essential.

Compensation 
Funded graduate positions are available to students of any nationality. Selected PhD candidates will enjoy tuition waiver and stipend through research assistantships.
