Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you that we extended the paper submission deadline to BAILAR-2021: The 5th Workshop on Behavior Adaptation, Interaction and Learning for Assistive Robotics @ROMAN-2021.

The program of the Workshop also includes four esteemed invited speakers. The accepted papers to the workshop will be invited to a special issue in a high impact journal.

We attached below the CFP, more information are also available on our website https://sites.google.com/view/bailar-2021

Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Important Dates

Deadline for Paper Submission: June 30h, 2021
Paper Acceptance Notification: July 15h, 2021
Camera Ready Paper: July 27th, 2021
Main Conference Date: August 8th–12th, 2021
Workshop Date: August 8th, 2021 (Full-day)

Target Audience

This workshop is intended as a forum for a broad audience, which spans from social and assistive robotics, to user-profiling, machine learning and robot behavior control. It will constitute a unique opportunity to gather roboticists and cognitive and computer scientists to present a variety of current approaches aiming at endowing social assistive robots with adaptive and learning capabilities, enhanced cognitive and social abilities, and discuss their potential to meet these criteria. This will permit us to analyze the current state of the field and of its possible real-world applications in assistive robotics.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Social and Assistive Robotics
•    User Profiling and Personalization in HRI
•    On-line Learning and Adaptation
•    Activity, Intention and Emotion Recognition
•    Cognitive Robotics Architectures in HRI
•    Decision Making and Planning
•    Multimodal Communication in HRI
•    Mutual Affective Understanding in HRI
•    Psychophysiological Monitoring and Assessment
•    Acceptability, Trustworthiness and Ethics in HRI
•    Security and safety in HRI
•    Brain-Computer interfaces for HRI
•    Theory of Mind in Robotics
•    Metrics for HRI Quality
•    Explainability and Transparency in HRI

Submission Guidelines

We welcome prospective participants to submit either full papers (up to 6 pages) or extended abstracts (up to 2 pages). Papers can be on research that the authors have already conducted, but we especially encourage papers on new ideas or research that the authors plan to conduct.
We strongly encourage Workshop participants to present during paper presentation demos and videos showing their experiments and achievements.
The extended versions of the accepted papers will be invited to a high impact JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE (TBC).
The manuscripts should conform to the RO-MAN 2021 guidelines (links: Word, LaTeX). Each paper will receive a minimum of two reviews. Accepted papers require that at least one of the authors register to the workshop.
All submitted papers will be reviewed by two reviewers. The abstracts of the accepted papers will appear on the workshop website.
Authors will be able to submit a PDF copy through EasyChair.
