Hello Everyone,

Apologies for cross-posting. [ http://articulab.hcii.cs.cmu.edu/ | The Articulab ] at INRIA Paris, directed by Professor Justine Cassell, has two new openings, for a Research Engineer and a Post Doctoral Researcher, in the field of Embodied Conversational Agents. The overall objectives of the project are as follows:

(1) Carry out detailed and innovative studies on human-human conversation, in adults and children

(2) Build computational models of the social and task aspects of these conversations

(3) Integrate the models into next-generation embodied conversational agents (also known as ECAs, or virtual humans, chatbots, or multimodal dialogue systems) that have the ability to engage and help their users using language and nonverbal behavior, with both social and task talk, where the social talk serves to improve task performance

(4) Evaluate the performance of these ECAs in order to better understand the applications of conversational agents to societal grand challenges, and to continuously improve how these systems communicate and engage with humans.

The selected candidates will join a vibrant group of PhD. students and research engineers. More information regarding the positions and how to apply can be found at the job links given below:
