[iva] PhD position in Generative AI for Sign Language at KTH

KTH in Stockholm is happy to announce a PhD position in Generative AI for Sign Language

This new project combines neural motion generation, large language models and 3D animation for the purpose of translating text into sign language. The tasks of the candidate will span from development and training of models, collection of sign language data in our on-site motion capture lab, to evaluation with users.

The project will leverage recent breakthroughs in diffusion-based motion generation where we have managed to generate convincing human motion in several domains including gesture, dancing and locomotion https://www.speech.kth.se/research/listen-denoise-action/

Sign language processing is a key technology for societal inclusion, yet it is understudied compared to written and spoken language. This research takes place in an interdisciplinary research group working on modeling and understanding human communication, including speech, language, and gesture, using computational and AI-based methods.
