Applications are invited for a Research Associate (PostDoc) to join the Affective Intelligence and Robotics Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, at the University of Cambridge, UK ( The Cambridge AFAR Lab: https://cambridge-afar.github.io/). The Research Associate will work closely with another postdoc as well as several students and/or collaborators on the development of machine learning methodologies for human behaviour analysis and understanding that facilitate adaptive and personalised human-AI interactions (e.g., human-agent and/or human-robot interactions).


The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with designing and implementing deep learning models and architectures, and/or reinforcement learning algorithms, and deploying them for real-world applications or real-time analysis of human behaviours. The Cambridge AFAR Lab focuses on developing novel machine learning and human-robot interaction frameworks and deploying them in real-world settings. Therefore, we require someone with excellent implementation skills, and experience with real time and real-world deployments. A very good (and relevant) publication record in Machine Learning for human behaviour understanding, HRI/robotics, or a closely related research area; as well as a high degree of self-motivation, research-oriented thinking, and a drive for creating systems to run in real-time and in the real-world are all essential traits for this position.
