The Robotics Department in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on Human-Robot Interaction applied to the Arts, a project funded by DARPA.

Job Summary
The postdoctoral fellow will be working with Professor  <https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=TbN31LMAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao>Patricia Alves-Oliveira <https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=TbN31LMAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao> in the Robot Studio, her research lab at the University of Michigan. This project is closely related to the main theme of the lab, which concerns the topic of human-robot interaction. The successful candidate will have extensive experience and a passion for robotics, human-robot interaction, biometrics, controls, learning, abstract thinking, as well as an interest in the arts. Fellows will be given time and mentorship to begin developing their own research, as they prepare for transition to faculty or industry. Fellows will also have access to DARPA network and attend project meetings.

Responsibilities
*Applicants will be expected to independently produce results on their project
*Publish high-quality engineering journals
*Travel to national and international conferences
*Travel to DARPA events 
*Be an active part of the lab culture

Required Qualifications
*Ph.D. in Robotics, or a related field
*Mechatronics, including the development of refined physical prototypes that integrate sensing, actuation, and control
*Proven experience with ROS
*Implementation in real-time embedded systems
*Programming in language such as Python, C/C++, and experience with Linux-based microcomputers
*Machine learning theory and implementation in real-time Python
*Human subject testing, and the development of IRB protocols
*Proficient with learning from data

Salary: $64,000.00 - $69,000.00

Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term for 12 months. The possibility to extend the contract is based on mutual satisfaction and agreement.
