Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to the ISMR Workshop on Robotics for Nursing
scheduled for May 14 as part of the International Symposium on Medical
Robotics (ISMR). ISMR will take place at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
*Important Dates*
Submission window: March 24 to April 24, 2025
Early registration deadline: April 14, 2025
Workshop date: May 14, 2025 (in person only)
*Motivation*
Nursing is a discipline rooted in both knowledge and practice, with a
central focus on delivering patient-centered care. However, a growing
global nursing shortage is limiting the time nurses can spend with
patients. Robotic technologies have the potential to assist nurses with
routine tasks, enabling them to dedicate more time to direct patient care
and improving health outcomes. At the same time, introducing robots into
clinical settings presents new challenges, such as increased workload
related to training, operation, and maintenance of these complex systems.
The Workshop on Robotics for Nursing aims to bring together researchers and
practitioners to explore this emerging interdisciplinary field. The
workshop will explore the unique challenges and opportunities of applying
robotics in nursing and caregiving - distinct from other domains of medical
robotics such as surgical or rehabilitation robotics - through a series of
talks and panel discussions.
*Topics of Interest*
Robotics-assisted nursing workflows
Assistive robots
Robotic assistants to promote nurse wellbeing
Human-robot interaction in the context of nursing
Robotic simulators for nurse training
Robotic tutors for nursing education
Medical robots for nursing
*Call for Papers and Abstracts*
We invite submissions of both new work (Track 1) and previously published
work (Track 2). Submissions do not need to be anonymized for review. All
submissions will undergo a review process to assess their relevance to the
workshop. Manuscripts must be written in English and submitted
electronically in PDF format via
https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=r4n2025
We do not plan to compile a proceedings volume. Authors will present their
work in the format of talks or posters during the workshop. Submissions
will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with notifications of acceptance sent
within one week of the submission. Complete CFP available at:
