SECOND CALL FOR BIDS for Organizing ACM IVA 2026

The annual ACM Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA) is the 
premier international event for interdisciplinary research on the 
development, application, and evaluation of intelligent virtual agents, 
specifically focusing on the ability to interact socially. Such agents 
can be embodied graphically (e.g., virtual characters, embodied 
conversational agents) or physically (e.g., robots). They are capable of 
real-time perception, cognition, emotion, and action, allowing them to 
participate in dynamic social environments. This includes human-like 
interaction qualities such as multimodal communication using facial 
expressions, speech, and gesture, conversational interaction, socially 
assistive and affective interaction, interactive task-oriented 
cooperation, or social behavior simulation. IVAs are highly relevant for 
and widely applied in many societally important domains, including 
health, education, training, entertainment, at the workplace, or for 
assisted living.

The 25^th International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents will be 
held in person, September 16^th – 19^th 2025, organized in Berlin:

  ** We are calling for bids to organize the next conference in 2026, 
preferably in the 3^rd and 4^th week of September.

Interested groups should prepare an application consisting of:

  * Conference location: description of the conference venue and nearby
    accommodations; description of public transportation and access from
    nearby airports
  * Conference organization: description of the organizing committees;
    conference dates that fit best to avoid conflict with other conferences
  * Conference budget: estimation of the budget with different numbers
    of participants, and including margins and fees by ACM:

  * A special topic that may be featured in IVA 2026
  * If desired, applicants could contact the IVA steering committee

The deadline to submit applications is: June 27^th 2025
