Winnipeg is a vibrant cultural city (recently called an ‘absolute
must-visit destination’ by Vogue magazine), with a wide range of music,
comedy, international, theater, and winter festivals (
https://www.tourismwinnipeg.com/events/annual-festivals-and-events), a
strong restaurant scene for the foodies in the crowd, and a number of
destinations including the new Museum for Human Rights, the Winnipeg Art
Gallery, the stunning Polar Bear exhibit at the Zoo, and the world-famous
Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Winnipeg has four full seasons, including warm and
humid summers for BBQs in the park, lengthy springs and falls, and a solid
Canadian winter for snow sports including skating on the Red River, snow
shoeing, and cross-country skiing. Winnipeg is an un-crowded, small city,
located on the great plains, with close access to the famous Canadian
Shield for hiking and camping.
