=================================================================================================================================================================

We solicit proposals for tutorials and workshops to be held at the 11th IEEE International Conference on Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems (CIS) and the 11th IEEE International Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM) (CIS-RAM 2024). The tutorials and workshops will take place on August 8 - 11 at the same venue as the main conference in Hangzhou, China.

Call for Tutorial and Workshop Proposals

Proposal Deadline: March 1, 2024

Notification by: March 5, 2024

The purpose of the tutorials is to provide an opportunity for experts in the CIS and RAM domains to deliver rich learning experiences to attendees in areas that include longstanding research challenges, current topics of research and emerging areas. The purpose of the workshops is to provide a comprehensive forum on topics that will not be fully explored during the main conference and to encourage in-depth discussion of technical, application, and community issues. The potential audience for tutorials and workshops includes a broad spectrum of CIS-RAM attendees, ranging from experienced researchers with an established track record in sciences and technology, to early-stage researchers and researchers interested in learning about a new domain. In order to offer a high quality and diverse set of workshops and tutorials at CIS-RAM 2024, we invite proposals that address introductory and advanced topics in a workshop or tutorial style. Proposals that target early-stage researchers, as well as those aimed at experienced researchers who might want to delve deeper into a new CIS or RAM-related area are welcome.

Tutorials will be 3 hours in duration, and can introduce an emerging or currently active area of CIS or RAM-related research, or present an overview of an established area of research, rather than focus on the presenter’s individual research area. Proposals of tutorials should be limited to 3 pages and include:

l Tutorial title

l Presenter information, including name and affiliation

l Contact information, including email and telephone

l A brief abstract summarizing the proposed tutorial

l Description of the proposal, which includes a few relevant references and any webpages or material useful for reviewing the proposal

l An explanation of the relevance of the proposed tutorial

l Tutorial logistics, including

l Duration (3 hours = 1 session)

l Description of presentation format (e.g., one or more presenters, etc.)

l Special equipment required for the tutorial

l Description of accompanying material provided (handouts, storage devices with media, etc.)

l Presenter information including biography, key publications and a list of previous tutorial experience

l Target audience, e.g., new researchers to the field, research students, specialists of adjacent fields

We are looking for workshops which complement the main conference, reflect the CIS-RAM community’s interest in a topic, as well as those that generate new discussion and momentum. We strongly encourage workshops aimed at creating or improving community, workshops focusing on the social impact of interdisciplinary workshops, and workshops on niche topics not sufficiently represented at CIS-RAM. Proposals of workshops should be limited to 3 pages and include:

l Workshop title and acronym

l Topics that will be covered in the workshop

l Broader impact statement: Describe why the workshop is relevant to the community and how relevant the topics or discussion are beyond the CIS-RAM audience

l Ethical considerations around the topic (if any)

l Organizers and speakers

l Duration (3 hours = 1 session)

l Primary organizer responsible for liaising with the workshop chairs.

l Organizing team’s experience and background: information that supports the organizers’ ability to run a workshop, and the appropriateness to a workshop on this topic, including brief bios for the main organizers.

l List of invited speakers: Please list only speakers that have confirmed or tentatively confirmed their attendance, and who are willing to deliver a virtual talk if necessary. For each speaker, (a) please indicate if confirmation is tentative or final, (b) provide a link to their homepage, and (c) explain their relevance to the workshop. We recommend finding invited speakers who will not give the same talk at multiple workshops; otherwise, the workshops may be asked to merge.

Submission Procedure

Proposals for the CIS-RAM 2024 tutorials and workshops must be no more than 3 pages long and must conform to the format stated above; please ensure that the headings listed above are identified clearly.

Proposals should be submitted by email to chenyaran2013 at ia.ac.cn and cis-ram2024 at outlook.com by March 1th, 2024.

The date for notification of accepted proposals is March 5th, 2024.

By submitting a proposal, the presenter(s) understand the ISCA policy of strongly encouraging video recording of the tutorial for educational purposes if the proposal is accepted.
